Why Men in High Heel Shoes?

There is an old saying that goes, "You can't understand someone's experiences until you walk a mile in her shoes." While many people may have the perception that domestic violence and sexual assault are "women's issues," we believe that inviting men to become allies in ending the violence sends a powerful message. In asking men to publicly stand up and show their commitment to ending violence, their actions will encourage other men to start thinking about how they personally can do their part to end violence.

Why a Calendar?

The Project Hope Advocacy Program at Idaho State University hosted the 5th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event at Idaho State University on October 1, 2008. This event involves men walking in high heel shoes to raise awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault. The event is extremely popular in both the ISU and Southeastern Idaho communities and because of this recognition; a 2009 ISU (12-month) calendar was released on October 1, 2008. The calendar features men who have participated in the event in previous years, and all the men are featured wearing high heel shoes.

All proceeds from the sale of this calendar will be used to provide services for victims of intimate partner violence and fund prevention and awareness activities at Idaho State University and in the Southeastern Idaho community.

Please help us make a difference at Idaho State University and in the Southeastern Idaho community by purchasing a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes calendar. Please select the number of calendars you would like to purchase and click on the Buy Now button. The calendars only cost $12 (includes shipping and handling) plus Idaho state tax.
